Sam Huizenga

Sam Huizenga serves as the Director for Raise Up Global Ministries. Sam also works alongside her husband, Jon, as they plant Rise Up Church. Yes, it is often confusing to work for Raise Up, an organization that supports the programs of Global Coffee Break, Timothy Leadership Training, and Educational Care, while also planting Rise Up, a new church in Cedar Springs, MI. Sam continues to lead Coffee Break on Tuesdays mornings in the back of a downtown Cedar Springs store. She and Jon also love biking and playing with kids and grandkids.

Dave Ferguson

Dave Ferguson is the lead pastor of Community Christian Church, a multisite missional community that is passionate about “helping people find their way back to God.” Community has grown from a few college friends to thousands and has been recognized as one of America’s most influential churches. Dave also provides visionary leadership for the international church-planting movement NewThing and is chairman of the board and president of the Exponential conference. He is an award-winning author of books that include The Big Idea, Exponential, On The Verge, Finding Your Way Back To God, Starting Over, Hero Maker and most recently B.L.E.S.S. 5 Everyday Ways to Love Your Neighbor and Change the World. Dave and his best friend Sue have three terrific children Amy, Josh and Caleb.

Karen Ellis

K.A. Ellis is the Director of the Edmiston Center for the Study of the Bible and Ethnicity in Atlanta, Georgia. She's passionate about theology, human rights, and global religious freedom.

Since 2006, it's been Mrs. Ellis' pleasure to collaborate with the Swiss-based organization, International Christian Response, traveling internationally to connect local and global Christians while studying Christian perseverance. Her research explores historical and contemporary Christian endurance on society's margins, particularly in places where it's most difficult to live the Christian life.

Diane Averill

Diane Averill has been involved with Global Coffee Break for over forty years, as a Bible study facilitator, a trainer, and Regional Leader for the East Coast US. She has co-authored several Discover Your Bible books with others, including her husband, Brent, who is a retired Christian Reformed pastor. She and her husband have four married children and enjoy spending time with them and their twelve grandchildren.

Marian Lensink

Marian Lensink has been working with Coffee Break and Resonate for 15 years, and has been a Coffee Break leader or director for over 30 years. She continues to lead the Coffee Break group in her own church, and enjoys leading Bible study with those who are exploring the truth of who Jesus is. Marian and her husband, Homer, live in Burlington, ON, where they attend Faith CRC. They have 3 incredible sons, 3 beautiful daughter-in-laws, and 6 awesome grandchildren.

Cindy Bultema

Executive Director of GEMS Girls Club

Cindy Bultema is the Executive Director of GEMS Girls' Clubs. She loves the Lord, loves life, loves her family, and loves to celebrate! With over 20 years of ministry experience, Cindy has trained leaders and created programs within a variety of settings. Her previous work experiences include serving as the founding Children’s Ministry Director at a Michigan megachurch, equipping 1,000 volunteers, and ministering to 2,700 kids every weekend, as well as writing children's curriculum for an international publishing house and traveling worldwide as a children’s ministry consultant.

Cindy is also a sought-after women's speaker, author, and Grief Share expert. Her best-selling Bible studies include Red Hot Faith and Live Full, Walk Free. Cindy lives in West Michigan with her husband and four children. When not serving at GEMS, you’ll find Cindy walking her dogs, hosting a house full of teenagers, or trying to figure out what’s for dinner.

Juan Sierra

Juan Sierra is the Program Manager for Global Coffee Break. He oversees the team that develops DYB materials and the staff that provides the training around the globe. He provides training for church leaders on a regular basis as well as staying in communication with Global Coffee Break leaders. Juan is an ordained pastor at Sunlight Community Church where he serves as the pastor of small groups ministry. He lives in Vero Beach, Florida with his wife and two kids.

Scott Vander Ploeg

Senior Pastor of Sunlight Community Church

Founder and President of Multiply 222 Network

Pastor Scott Vander Ploeg is the senior pastor of Sunlight Community Church in Port Saint Lucie, FL. He leads this church with three campuses and a growing preschool/elementary school. Scott is passionate about the gospel so he started the 222 Discipleship movement to help people get discipleship one on one.

Scott is married to Andrea Vander Ploeg and together they have three girls. He enjoys playing tennis and watching baseball.
